My Story

Heyy 🐣

So, I am running London Landmarks Half Marathon 2026 for Cosmic. I have absolutely zero experience running, I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't truly believe in this exceptional charity. πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

I have also been lucky enough to work for Cosmic for 1 and a half years and see the incredible importance of this charity.

Here is little rundown on how Cosmic supported me ☺️- Cosmic is a charity that supported my parents and I back when I was in year 1 of primary school. I had chicken pox, pneumonia and streptococcus all at once and had to be put in an induced coma for a week. This was a very scary time for my parents, seeing your child intubated, having a massive machine encapsulate your child, operating as artificial lungs was a worrying sight. The doctors explained the machines to my parents but this did not give them the reassurance they hoped for. However, Cosmic was able to make them feel some comfort amongst it all. They provided a bnb opposite the hospital, so my parents could dash over to me if anything was to happen.

How Cosmic helped my parents at the time?

πŸ‘©πŸ» My Mum 'I was able to be by my Issy's bedside 24/7 by having a room so close to the hospital... I couldn't have been more supported by such an incredible charity!! Cosmic was there for us.'

πŸ§”πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ My Dad 'Cosmic supported us through the worst 3 weeks imaginable by allowing us to have a base next to the hospital. So we could be with our beautiful girl at all times. Thanks Cosmic'

How Cosmic, today, help families in the same situation as my parents?

I have been able to see how Cosmic has transformed from what it was 17 years ago. Rather than providing a bnb, Cosmic now run its own accommodation, Cosmic House. Cosmic House is a 5 min pyjama walk away from the PICU. This accommodation has laundry services, a work lounge, sibling play area and large kitchen equipped with utensils and food.

While working at Cosmic, I have been able to see how crucial the work is, Cosmic support families by providing the essentials you forget about while worried about your child- a warm room to sleep in, travel expenses, food money. However you need help, Cosmic is there <3. This frontline support makes a real difference.

A Thank you from a parent πŸ’ž- 'Massive thank you to Cosmic team. There were days /weeks when I would literally have no time to make food, if it wasnt for Cosmic, I wouldn't have eaten all day- big thank you!'
